Review: Aveeno Moisturizing Cream

Who doesn't have dry skin? Not me. Everyone certainly must have dry skin at some point in their life, whether it's on your body or face. Lately, for me, my body has been heaps dry and as much as I LOVE the Bath & Body Works Body Lotions, they're just not moisturizing enough so I set seek for a cream which will keep my skin moisturized without having to apply every single day...

I'm one. Lazy. Bumhole. Hehehe.

So I picked up this jar of moisturizing cream by Aveeno. It's a creamy colour jar with a navy blue top, quite simple, however, what attracted me to this product was
its price of $12.95 (approx) as it was on SALE (so Asian!) and also the packaging stated so many damn claims and good stuff that it's not funny.

It states that:
- It's dermatologist tested
- Clinically proven to heal cracked and dry skin
- Has a cooling menthol

Dermatologist tested? I do not know.
Has a cooling menthol? I can't feel it on my body.
Heals cracked and dry skin? Yup

I really can't feel anything with this on my skin. It just feels normal. Nothing special or bad, really. However, on my face it feels very heavy with
with a cooling sensation, so if you're looking for a cream which you can use on both face and body, this is definitely not the product.
I recommend QV cream which comes in a jar and a squeeze tube <-- godly product I must say.

Anyways, today's spotlight is on Aveeno's moisturizing cream, so let's forget QV for the time being...

The cream definitely heals cracked and dry skin as stated. My arms were actually very dry lately.. probably because I've been showering in the hottest water since it's
Winter and it's so damn cold and wet here in Sydney. Poo!
I apply this cream to my body after showering and then let it absorb for a few mintues. Using this cream has gave me a quick result of moisturized skin and not to mention
I only use this every second day because I do get lazy... so yap!

I find the lotions (besides Nivea) to be too watery and texture so I don't like it since it didn't do jack for my skin! Waste of money.

Anyways, I'm not saying this is the BEST moisturizing but it certainly does fit in one of the BEST. It's easy to blend, does its moisturizing job, has a pleasant scent, heals cracked and
dry skin, affordable for its size and available locally at Priceline (or other pharmacies). The only thing I don't like about it is that it feels to heavy on my face
and it's in a jar packaging so you better get your hands and fingers cleaned before dipping it in and out of the jar... for any of you hygiene freaks of course. Personally,
I try to keep my fingers as clean as possible (therefore only apply after shower), but if I had to use it on-the-go then I don't care because it's going on my body anyways,
not my face.

Ok, so for the lazy gals who will scroll down here to see the PROs and CONs and/or the gals who will get up to this overall section after patiently reading, here it is:

PROs:
  • Affordable
  • Easy to blend
  • Moisturizes heavily
  • Large size tub
  • Pleasant scent (personal)
  • Available locally
  • Cooling sensation [on face and/or body]
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Came sealed inside packaging

CONs:
  • Not suitable for face as it feels very heavy
  • Large size tub can also be a con
  • Jarred-packaging, therefore is not sanitary

Yes. Take my word for it. I recommend this product and I hope you find this post helpful!

Updates >.< + Haul

Hi galz!!! My giveaway is coming to an end, so make sure you DO enter! I've added a few more items to it but I haven't listed it yet...

On another note, I've been heaps busy with moving houses, so please excuse me for being M.I.A as I won't have access to the internet for the next couple of weeks. However, I will be writing posts and schedule them to publish automatically (or try to).

So let's start the hauling!

This is the L'elan Vital Ultra Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips which I'm planning to use for my face because it's super gentle so it should be right for sensitive skin types. It's an oil-based product as you see, so do shake well before use.
Great idea because oil-based products can removed all types of make-up as it breaks down the particles/substances and all that good stuff, making it easier to be removed.
I like the nice green packaging, makes it look eco-friendly (don't know if it is or not) and promising... this was for a member price, approx $9.

Grabbed this book at Basement Books at Central Station (to UTS) for $4 and there's quite a few make-up tips in there, however they only suggest Bobbi Brown items.. I'll still enjoy it though :)

And then I also dropped down to the pharmacy to grab these eyeshadow duos because I heard good reviews about them. These eyeshadow duos are by MODE Cosmetics...

..and has absolutely amazing pigmentation for $2.95 per duo.
The purple duo reminds me of STILA's Eyeshadow Duo in Orchid, is it possibly a dupe?

That's all for my haul yesterday! I did not have a weekend post because I was busy moving and it was Easter, so I was unsure whether the markets were open or not... poo!

I hope I will be able to blog soon for you galz! Hope you had a great Easter too!

Yours deerest,

This is another Oz post because this product is only available in Australia, so for everyone else.. you miss out. But I'm sure we miss out more on the deals you guys get such as BUY 1 GET 1 FREE, the refund policies and $1 brushes from ELF, of course. *still jealous*

What is it So glossy and nourishing, long lasting but it’s also moisturising. It’s an injection of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, your very own lip doctor. It contains Kakadu plum which is one of the world’s highest known sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C is not only soothing, but also naturally stimulates collagen formation. Moisturising, smoothing and lip defining peptides are added to help make this the hottest thing on everyone's lips!

Why we love it Super gloss, super moisturising and super fun colours! Lip defining and long lasting without that sticky factor. Plus it has the most delicious lychee fragrance.

Texture
I definitely love the texture of this lip gloss. It glides on smoothly and comes on very slightly sticky, which I like. It doesn't glide around on my lips, but rather sits on a spot... so I'm not worried it will smear or so. This product is my second favourite lip gloss after the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss.. beats all my other current lipglosses HAH! And that includes the NYX Round Lip Glosses and the Missha Lip Glosses :)

Long-lasting
I'm unsure about the long-lasting but there's nothing significant, however, its long-lasting power would be average or beyond, not below any other lip glosses.

Pigmentation
Nothing extraordinary. Did I mention that... it's a pure glossy finish without shimmers or glitters. Which I like, because shimmery/glittery gloss is not my thing.
First coat is a little sheer, however, is buildable.

Scent
Although it says it has a lychee scent, I think it has more of a peachy scent. I'm not really sure. I can never detect a particular scent... whether it's floral or fruity. However this scent doesn't bother me. I think the only scent I can identify is coconut... because I hate it with a passion... *ahem* Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze.

Shades
Available in 10 shades and the most popular is Lambada which is a 'light pink creme' which I have never tried. In fact, I only have one gloss in Bellydance which is a coral shade and I definitely LOVE it! Each shade is supposed to match each shade of their Color Inject Mineral Lipsticks, but mix n' match creates a unique shade for you!

One coat of BELLYDANCE

Bellydance in natural lighting
Bellydance in flash

Product
I don't find this product drying OR moisturizing on my lips. This, for dry lips is OK but definitely NOT for flaky lips. It does put little emphasis on flaky lips -- I actually never came across a lip gloss which won't put emphasis on flaky lips.

Applicator
It comes with a longer-than-normal, slightly tilted and flat applicator which I like. I find this super easy to apply on my bottom lips and also allow me to quickly build up the intensity. This applicator is quite a unique shaped sponge applicator though..

Side view

This gloss comes in a tube of 7ml by the way.

Here's an overview for all you lazy people...

Pros:
  • Can be picked up at cheaper prices as there's usual sales for this brand
  • Fairly pigmented
  • Buildable
  • Availability (can be found everywhere.. in Priceline, Big W, Target..)
  • Decent long-lasting
  • Doesn't have the stickiest texture
  • Available in 10 shades to match their Color Inject Lipstick range (yay!)

Cons:
  • Only available in Australia

I recommend, repurchase and will collect!

Hope you enjoy this review,

Saturday/Sunday Steals #5 + Haul

On Sunday, I was thinking... "I'll post tomorrow..." and that thought stood till now. In fact, today is Wednesday and I'm still feeling quite lazy to post this up LOL!!!!

I've been busy with packing my house to move down the road because people are gonna demolish our house and build it up!

Not at our expenses, it's the landlord's idea... Poo!

I love the tree in front of my house which grows these sweet fruits that everyone love! We've been through approx 10 summers together. Think about it. How many Summers can you actually exist in this world for?! I'm thinking that's like.. a quarter of my life!! Poo.....!

Anyways, this is what I've got on Sunday. Very less. In fact, I only spent $2.50 LOL... for 2 items.

This cute SASA Pink Bow Hairtie for 50 cents!!
More accessories to decorate my hair buns!

And also this cute couple kissing necklace for $2!! Yey!!

It was a gloomy morning so not much sellers set out to sell, therefore we finished the market in 30 minutes.. I wished there were more people! My house is soon gonna turn out to be a accessories/cosmetic dump LOL

On another note, here is what I've recently hauled, most haircare items:

Herbal Essence Long-term Relationship Intensive Split End Protector Mask (red jar) $5.99
I was sent two samples for this product and I know I MUST get it! It is comparable to HALF of my SO (Salon Only) SOS Split End Protector! Why? Because SO also controlled my frizz at the same time, whereas this product only helped my split ends... I still LOVE!

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Cream $12 (SALE price)
Contains a cooling menthol which feels cooling on your skin (obviously!) and also smells minty... I think. I can never know what smell smells like what! But it's a pleasant smell! I will review soon!

Herbal Essence None of Your Frizzness Serum $9.99
This product makes up the other half of my Salon Only Split End Protector.. for this moment. I'm stll trialing it out so no comments yet, but this is definitely an on-the-go product! It does control my frizz and make my hair feel more sleek and also adds a nice slight shine. It DOES make my hair look healthy, but not greasy! Yay! Review soon too :) Remind me if you like any of these reviews okay? I always forget LOL

Herbal Essence None of Your Frizzness Shampoo $6.99
Ok. The first time I used this, last night, my hair came out less frizzy so I think this product DOES need a few more times of usage. I LOVE Herbal Essence packing for their NEW collections!! It comes in different colours with different products/serums targetted to different hair types and styles! Check it out HERE.

That's all!! I'll do a post for you soon on how to contour your face!!

Have a goodnight everyone! :)

Review: Revlon PhotoReady Foundation (dry skin)

EDIT: DON'T THINK I MENTIONED THIS BUT... This foundation is BEST applied with a foundation brush than a stippling brush... (dry skin).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We all know Revlon's Colorstay Foundation tops all drugstore foundation in ALL dimensions. This includes the quality, long-lasting formula and many different aspects such as the chemicalized (if thats even a word) scent, price and hatred for being born without a dispenser/pump. Hahaha.

Anyways, there has been quite a lot of different reviews revolving around Revlon's PhotoReady Foundation and this is just another tiny review which won't make a difference... or will it?

Now.. I've picked up this foundation in Golden Beige 008 at CosmoCosmetics for $25. I believe in store, it is $35-$37, not entirely sure.

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation

  • Delivers soft, luminous airbrushed finish in any light
  • Photochromatic pigments bend, reflect and diffuse light to erase every flaw
  • Complete yet undetectable coverage
  • Oil free, Fragrance Free
  • SPF 20
  • Can be used alone or in combination with either the PhotoReady Powder OR PhotoReady Translucent Finisher
RRP: $35-$37

-----------------------------------------------------

Shades
The Revlon PhotoReady Foundation comes in 8 shades -- not as many as Revlon's Colostay.
008 Golden Beige shares a yellow undertone which is suitable for my asian skin, however, it's a little bit light for me! For reference, I match an NC25 and I can also match a NC37 for MAC SFF.

Packaging
Comes in a round bottle with a perfect pump/dispenser and a black cap. Love the packaging! On the bottom of the bottle, there's a sticker which lists all the ingredients. It's quite handy since there's a cap, if you're travelling, it won't self-squirt everywhere. Keep in mind, if you're travelling, it'll be a pain in the ass if you lose or break the cap.
Bottle is made of glass and cap is made of plastic --- so be careful not to drop it.

Coverage
This foundation provides medium-full coverage. However, I don't recommend to build it up to a higher intensity because it can get cakey.

Lasting power
Depending on which skin type you have, this foundation's lasting power will vary. On days that I apply this with a stippling brush are also the days where my skin flakes, it tends to stay on less than 6 hours before it starts fading and all.
I definitely think that using a foundation brush for this foundation is SO much better than stippling and swirling the product on.. that way, it can last up to a good 11 hours [for me].

Product
I think this foundation is OK on the days my skin is nicely moisturized, however, when my skin is disugstingly flakey, I'll stay away from this. There's heaps of shimmers in this foundation which I find it become MORE visible when using a stippling brush, so therefore, I believe in using a foundation brush so it doesn't pack all that shimmer on.
This also contains SPF 20 which is a boo-hoo for flash photography...
For my dry skin, it can get a little flaky or 'scaly' on a bad day.

Photos:
No flash (no powder)

With flash (no powder)

This is my scarring area and you see, it doesn't flake without foundation.
However, in the photo, it gathers into little balls of flakes LOL.

Would I repurchase? Nope, too expensive and limited color range. I can't match a shade.

Overall for you people who are lazy to read LOL (like me!):

PROs:
  • Medium - full coverage
  • Lookin' good in all lightings
  • Photogenic skin
  • Average suitability for dry skin without flakes
  • Sanitary pump (!)
  • Available in both pink and yellow shades
  • A good 10 hours of lasting power [for me & depending on how you apply it]
  • Available all stores
  • Easy to blend
  • Oil-free
  • Fragrance-free

CONs:
  • For flaky skin, avoid!
  • Bad skin days for dry skin can result in scaly skin so make sure you moisturize & exfoliate properly
  • Price $$
  • Shimmers which can be obvious when up-close (face-to-face)
  • Available in only 8 shades!! Boo for those with darkest and lightest skin tones! :(
  • Glass bottle
  • A slight sticky feel if you don't powder
  • Can get cakey if too much product are applied

My advice: For the price, you can fork out another $10-$15 for a MAC foundation or a high-end brand which gives you a wider shade selection AND a variety of products to choose from. However, if you're on a budget with only $35, I suggest you go for the Revlon ColorStays as it has more shades to pick and ranges to target all skin types.

Hope that helps you :)

Rambles: Brands Repackaging (Napoleon Perdis)

For anyone who haven't heard of brands who repackages from a particular wholesale manufacture, let me introduce to you.

There are many manufacturers around who offers 'private labelling' for companies which means these companies can repackaging the products they manufacture into their own packaging. They can rename, repackage and/or relabel all they want!

So, I know I promised you a while ago that I'd post about BRAND dupes.

This post won't exactly be talking about brand dupes, sorry everyone! But it's something along the lines. Maybe I should say... 'ramblings but yet not to be proven'.

This is definitely from what I've heard, please note.

So for a long time, I've researched quite a lot about Napoleon Perdis....

From many sites, I've found out that the brand actually repackages from other brands! Shocking?

Even though I was convinced, I wasn't SURE until my teacher said that she used to work for a make-up manufacture and came across brand repackaging where two products were laid out and one printed 'Napoleon Perdis' and the other printed another brand (she didn't spill which brand).

I don't know whether I should call this 'repackaging' or maybe in a nicer way, brands share the same cosmetics' manufacturers.

Ok well.. they SAY...
  • NP repackages Sparkle Dusts from La Femme, a small US brand. Click here for info.
  • NP repackages from Masquerade

I'm not EXACTLY sure about Masquerade, however the company itself DOES offer 'private labels'... So.. yes... *suss*

I do suggest that you do some research on NP eye make-up products before you make a purchase because they are quite expensive and you never know that they're getting ripped off as that sparkle dust you bought is only worth $3-$5 from La Femme.

Boo!! Lucky I am not a fan of NP!

That is all, hope you enjoyed the post!

Saturday/Sunday Steals #4 + NOTD: Polkadots on Nude!

Another Sunday! A quick run through of what I've got today and a few items from last week!

Last week I've got a Stila Eyeshadow Duo for $1

I don't have it here with me... so I googled :(

I also got these nail polishes for $10... It's $14 initially but Mumma haggled it down to $10 LOL! :$

OPI Nail Lacquer in Espresso Your Style
Maybelline Express Shine in Pink Shock
Maybelline Express Shine in Blushing Bridge
Maybelline Wet Shine in Rainy Day
Napolean Perdis Chandelier Shine in Casablanca

Here are the swatches just in case you're interested!

L-R Espresso Your Style, Rainy Day, Pink Shock, Blushing Bride and Casablanca

OPI Espresso Your Style: Deep burgundy with subtle gold shimmers
Maybelline Rainy Day: Rosy red with a slight hint of pink
Maybelline Pink Shock: Metallic medium pink
Maybelline Blush Bride: Creamy white leaning a bit yellow
NP Casablanca: Creamy white leaning quite beige -- quite sheer

I hope you find that helpful!

And this is what I've got today:

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipglosses in Wine All Mine and Plum-tastic

Yes, I brought these lipglosses a few weeks back and she had more today and I just grabbed it since they are $2 each. At stores, they retail for $15. Adding this to blog giveaway -- they are brand new, still sealed.

Another brand new item I got is this Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder. I did a review on this product once upon a time. Click here.

I'm happy to get this for $2 too with the lip glosses and it's brand new. The sticker of the holes are still on there and I'm really looking forward to re-using this, because the translucent powder I am using right now gives off a white cast.. So boo!

I WILL transfer some product into a small sample for the giveaway also! Hope you guys don't mind :P

That's all for today... :) End of day totals up to $6.

Here's my NOTD!

And then I decided to bling bling it up... But it didn't look too good!! I will find another design which will suit the little bling bling better!

That's all for today guys. Sydney's weather is SO gloomy today. It's raining.. all wet and stuff. Quite upsetting.. Boo!

Have a goodnight everyone!

Back2Basic: General Rules of Colours (Make-Up) + My take on Sandara Park's Can't Nobody look

Hello hello!

Hope you girls been having a great Thursday/Friday and all you Oz fellas are enjoying the free samples! Yey!!!

Anyways.. let's go let's go!

Rule #1: Colours advance or recede.
Bright colours advance and make an area appear larger! Dull & dark colours recede and make an area appear smaller!

For example:
  • To make smaller lips appear bigger, use a lighter colour with a gloss or shimmer.
  • To make large lips appear smaller, use a dark matte colour.
  • Wearing black will make you look skinnier and white will exaggerate that particular body part. For example, if I had a stomach and a smaller booty, I'd be wearing a black shirt and white pants.
Yap yap...

Rule #2: Colour steals colour
Ok.. listen... just because you have blue eyes and want to make your eyes pop even MORE... it doesn't mean you gotta use blue eyeshadow.. you could opt for a purple eyeshadow [for true-blue eyes]. However, if you STILL prefer blue eyeshadow, remember to use a light shade of blue.

Why?
Because if you place a brighter blue next to a pale blue, the bright blue will definitely be the centre of attention, therefore will steal away the blue of your eyes instead of doing the opposite! Boo!

Rule #3: Colour reflect colours
Okay, so some colours DO reflect other colours better than stealing it.
Warm colours: red, yellow and orange
Cool colours: blue, violet and green

Saying this, if you happen to have acne or any red scars or skin conditions which causes redness, wearing a warm colour of clothing WILL reflect the redness in your skin.

Other examples:
  • A red lipstick with cool tone will make your yellow teeth appear whiter. Whereas, if you wear a red lipstick with a warm-tone based, your teeth will appear even more yellow. Boo!
  • A yellow shirt, even though not red, can make you appear more pink if you happen to have acne scars or couperose skin or even, a pinky complexion.
It's hard spotting out if a lipstick shade has a cool or warm tone to it... however for Visual Arts students, it should be fairly easy. Here's a good swatch picture I found on Google:

sourced >

Now.. we can't have a condition or anything which gives us a green-ness or blue-ness, unless it's bruises or dark-circles [still consider it please!].

Examples include:
  • If you have extreme dark circles, black eyeliner or eyeshadow on your bottom lash line should be avoided because this will make an emphasis on dark circles! Boo!
  • Paleness with a green tone... wearing blue, green or purple can make you look paler. So do opt for something with a warmer undertone.

Rule #4: Colours absorb colours
Dull colours will absorb more light than bright, shiny colours. Eg. If your hair is rough and greasy, it should appear darker than it really is.

^^ Ok, this rule, I don't understand LOL Someone please explain.

That is all for today's lesson! Thanks for reading guys! Hope this post helps you guys ALOT, because it DID help me LOL :D at least I know not to wear warm colours when I don't conceal my redness! Yey!

On another note, here's today inspired make-up :(

Sandara Park's look in 'Can't Nobody' Music Video

Do NOTE that 'inspired' means my own take on it. It doesn't necessarily mean that the eye makeup will look exactly the same. No shit talkers, please.

And yes, I've used purple eyeshadow which isn't visible in webcam at all! :(

I'm LOVING the lip colour!! turns out to be a pinky-coral which is REALLY nice! I'll swatch for you soon! Yayz!! Another favourite lip combo :)

The lighting is quite bad for the webcam photos, so yup.. my camera is still charging... So I'll see if I gathered any OK pictures on it, since I'm not very photogenic. LOL

After all, girls only wanna look [at least] presentable!

Have a goodnight!

So this is pretty much a Saturday steal post! However, I didn't wanna ruin the links so let's just count it as Saturday/Sunday!

This is what I've got today...

Target beige wedges $5

I like it, you? I think it's quite cute and simple :)

ROC Booties $8

These items ain't new, but the upcomings will be.
I love love this cuteeee pair of booties! Grey... hmmm would've been great if it could be black! :D

I also bought 6 eyeliner pencils which I do not know the brand of... I got them and a cake eyeliner for $1, altogether! Yay!

They ARE double ended which is a bonus! Yippee!

I'm happy to see metallic green and metlallic purple pretty exciting!
I'm excited to use itttttttz!!
And also the brown in the mid! Yay! Or the navy blue! Yum!

Ok. I'm definitely looking forward to the gold, and the top two's which I don't know how to describe the finish... pastel?

This is the cake eyeliner duo!

I don't know how to use it.. so I'll be researching! Yap yap

So today's total comes to........................................

$14 for all of the items listed above! Yay!!!

Now... here's another exciting make-up look. I love looking through make-up books so here's one I picked out to do. I find it quite fun to do!

Black sleek eyeliner with white mascara!!!
