Hi gorgeous! How have you all been?

If you live in Sydney, you'd know that the weather has just been AWESOME lately (more awesome especially for today!) -- we're talking about no gloomy clouds but instead.. bright sunshines!

Yipeee! That means Spring is just on its way! Hoooray!

So today's post will contain a yellow-based Spring manicure by moi & sad to say, I'm actually not THAT great with nail art :P I know dots, lines and the basic stuff, but nothing too detailed!

Are you ready?!

Simple, huh? Well that's me! As simple as.............. a dimple (awkward similie).
Here are the tools and nail polishes that I've used..

So from left to right..

1. Smiley face with a bow!
Yellow reminds me most of those MSN emoticons, with the yellow colour as a face. So I've recreated my little happy face for Spring!

2. Simple with two green diamantes!
I've always loved something as simple as this. Yeap! Just two small, green diamantés on a yellow base to remind you of the refreshing Spring time, without over-doing it!

3. Dotted french nail outline!
Break off the white line of the French nails! Turn it green! Dot it! It's a fun twist to the usual French white nails baby! Hell yeah, you can make it dashed, solid or smaller dotted if you want to! Or go with colour blocking choices!

4. Yellow in shapes.
Ok, I admit it. I wasn't sure what I was doing with this. Originally, I was suppose to 'recreate the inner pattern of a lemon fruit', but it ended up looking like an outline of a pizza so I went wild. Coloured some triangles in dark with Utla3's Frangipani and some in solid white.

5. Something.
I'm not exactly sure what I did here, but I started off with a yellow french tip, then pulled lines of yellow down from the nail base and finished off with green crosses. LOL! Err... I really like it, but I can't really tell you what the inspiration was behind this one. What do you think?

So that's it! I definitely will be sporting yellow, orange and lotsa pinks and pastel shades this Spring! You watch me!!

What are YOUR go-to Spring nail shades?

A trip to the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo!

Hey there ma lovelies!

So this post is a tad overdue since I was expecting to blog right after, but I was waiting for some items that I've purchased to arrive... Eh. Then I figured that I'd do a separate haul post.............. LOL awesome!

The International Spa & Beauty Expo 2012 (open to traders only) was held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 11/12 of August 2012! I went with Alice and fluked our way there from Town Hall Station, arriving at 1-1:30. Pretty late!

Walked in and I was shocked seeing the NYX stand! Also moved along to Konad, Butter London and nails inc!

And then we moved to the main stage area where all the special effects make-up was happening! It was like a catwalk of special effects make-up! Sorry I couldn't remember what the show was exactly called, but it was spectacular!

My favourite..!

Moving on!

And then we passed Artistic Nai Design and the set below is so cute!

Back at the main stage was a Catwalk parade of swimwears! As we watched, next to me sat Arsy (Alice) munching on her sandwich LOL!

Passed by Lip Tattoos by Vixen and Real Technique Brushes by Samantha Chapman at the show too! Didn't know they'd be there!

....of course, I couldn't pass without snapping up at least a photo of the body and eyeliner tattoos!

 SLA Cosmetics

ASAP (skincare!)

Dermalogica!

And then we went around searching for Pure Fiji! I received a sample of their coconut-scented body lotion from Bellabox some time ago and fell IN LOVE with the yummy vanilla scent!

And then we found Nigel Stanislaus, make-up artist for Maybelline! We spoke to him and he was adorbs I'm telling ya! Was able to grab a photo with him without payin' him cheeseburgers!!

And at our last stop... GELATO! I chose strawberry and it wasn't that yummy... I don't think I'm a gelato-person...

Yeap! Very pic heavy post, but better than text heavy! :P Haul post soon!

What's Been Happening #4

Waaa! I apologise for the lack of posts for the past week! I haven't been motivated for blogging.. not feeling inspired! Not that there's anything wrong with me, I think I've been into cooking lately! I'm still learning, but happy to say that so far, I know how to prepare and cook beef lasagne and cheese, tomato and spam tarts!

Oh yummy!

Current nails: I'm currently trialling some Face Of Australia nail polishes, from their Molten Metallic collection! The shade I have on now is 'Bronze'.

Hot reads: I've only discovered Tablespoon.com last night, but their quick recipes do look amazingly tasty and fun to make! I can't wait to try these little cute corndog pops!

Most recent favourite product: I've rediscovered a little coconut-scented body lotion sample by Pure Fiji. Not sure how I could possibly forget how amazing it smells! Yummy vanilla scent reminds me of cupcakes!

New products: Real Technique brushes -- they are okay so far, haven't discovered anything amazing about them yet.

Most excited for: TAFE to be over! I'm STILL in holiday mode (and that was 7 weeks ago!...

Wanting to try: Nothing (thank Buddha, I finally get to save).

As always: Doing manicures for Mumma!

New in the mail: Played the match it game on Rimmel London's Facebook and won a nail polish in Hot Shot! Love little surprises!

Yeap! That's it! I can't wait to show you my market haul! I keep forgetting!!! :(

Silly ol' Tram!

Let me know what's been happening for YOU!

Colour Me In: a DIY Nude Nail Polish

'Colour Me In' is a series of posts in collaboration with Alice of ArsyParsy, Tezza of Myteeefine and Amanda ofThai-Tales!

*****

Hiya! I'm so extremely sorry for the lack of posts for the past week! I've been in MIA mood and stresses my Children Services course... meep.

But of course, I won't ever skip these Colour Me In posts so make sure to check this space every Thursday!

Today's post is on DIY nude nail polish and our based colour for this week's posts is Beige! I know I know, it's probably not the trendiest thing right now, but it's never out of trend, right?

So it's really simple and easy. All you need is....

Mix them together. You can mix on paper and then apply to your nails OR you can just add some powder foundation into a bottle of clear top coat and then mix if you'd like to make a bigger batch for later use.

Easy peasy, right?

I hope this short post will stimulate ideas for you and of course, you can always use other powder products such as eyeshadows, so go wild! You can also spice it up by adding some glitters and other lovely things!

Will YOU be attempting DIY nail colours?

Now that you have this cheat-sheet to DIY nude nail polish, don't miss out on Tezza's twist on French nails, Alice's go-to nude lipstick and Amanda's comments on this set of eyeshadow primers!

Colour Me In: Orange Lipsticks

'Colour Me In' is a series of posts in collaboration with Alice of ArsyParsy, Tezza of Myteeefine and Amanda ofThai-Tales!

*****

Okay, so I'm not exactly sure if orange lips will be a hot trend or not for the upcoming Spring/Summer... but I've ALWAYS wondered how people pull off orange lipsticks SO well!

I see it on models and bloggers. I don't think I've passed any beauty sporting orange lipsticks in real life yet. But from photos, some beauties pull off orange lipsticks perfectly fine! I envy them!

For me, red lips are already so extreme.. Orange lipsticks just takes it to another level. However, in saying so.. I do actually own two orange lipsticks! I have this weird thing where I love collecting odd coloured lipsticks.. most likely because they're not easy to find and I think they'd come to use one day. Just one day.

So here are two orange lipsticks I own!

Australis Limited Edition 2 and

Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Limited Edition 2, a year or two back. It has the perfect formula as the other shades from the Colour Inject range. Talk about creamy, smooth, pigmented and moisturising without much slip! But the colour is not ok. It's not an orange shade that I would ever wear out, I don't think so! It's not exactly 'orange' or coral, it's more like a carrot colour which kinda irks me, but I'd like to keep it for when I feel like some whack make-up (you know what I mean!). Will come handy!

Serge Louis Alvarez Lipstick in Something.. I'm just kidding! There's not a name for it so let's just name it Something! LOL.

I actually purchased this at IMATS for $10 (steal!) and it's the prettiest coral shade when applied, but the formula is absolutely stressful to work with. It's matte, but it's the driest thing I've applied to my lips, to be honest. I think it may be because it's old and discontinued. But anyways, I can feel my lips tugging when I try to apply this. Still a pretty shade though!

Yay or nay?

So tell me....

Do YOU wear orange/coral lipsticks?

What do you think of orange/coral lips? Only on runways, or nay?

I truly do think orange is a shade you should keep an eye on for the upcoming Spring and Summer, so make sure to drop by Tezza's post of orange nail art (ooh!), Alice's orange lippies and Amanda's orange lippies! WA! SO many lippies!

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Lacquers -- Blue Reef, Opulent Pink, Macaron Noisette

To be honest with ya.. L’Oreal Paris is not a brand that I’d look at, at all. And I’m not too sure as to why!

I think it may be because L’Oreal has always stood out to me as a ‘luxury brand’ of the drugstores/lower-end brands. Many products from L’Oreal comes with an outstanding price tag and I’m very much about beauty on a budget, so you’ll never see me at L’Oreal browsing!

But from now on, I have a strong feeling that I will never skip L’Oreal’s stand at Priceline anymore!!!

Yeap, just for their Colour Riche Le Vernis!

I’ve been holy golly into nail colours lately (pretty sure you can tell!) and these nail lacquers isn’t just only affordable... The pigmentation [for the three shades I own] is pretty impressive and the luxurious dress-to-impress packaging gives off such a ‘high-end’ feel!! Love love love..

So the very first shade I tried is the is 613 Blue Reef! I found it pretty odd since I never touch blues/greens on the first pick, but the shade just seemed so elegant and unique to my collection!

Blue Reef is a medium-dark teal shade with a creme finish. No shimmers, no nothing. Just glossy! This shade applied well, would do just fine with two coats and lasted a whole week on me with minor tip wear. I was surprised at the amount of  compliments I've received for this shade actually!

Just so lovely, right? ;)

So of course, following Blue Reef is 211 Opulent Pink because I LOVE my red and pink nails! It's a nice medium rose-pink with a creme finish!

This shade particularly applied SO well and it is SO pigmented that you can really just let it pass with one coat! My favourite out of the three I own, but it only lasted approximately three days on me before it started chipping.. :(

Lastly, 102 Macaron Noisette is a pretty champagne shade which looks very much like a nude colour on my nails! I'm actually not a big fan of nude colours as I love the bright-and-bolds, but I won't deny it's a perfect shade to wear to sneak into Friday's classes which doesn't allow nail polishes! Hehehehe.. sneaky!

Macaron Noisette has very, very subtle shimmers but still has that glossy finish! Unlike others, it's quite sheer I do prefer three coats! Lasted approx 5 days on me, so it's pretty good!

However, one crucial thing to mention is the fast-drying formula which isn't always necessarily a good thing. The only reason why I find it to be a thumbs down for this particular nail polish is because of the brush size.

It's all up to you and your personal preferences, but I find it really hard to work with big brushes! I'm sure you can see in the photos above.. the brushes are much wider than usual!

So for someone like me, time is what I need to work with these. Therefore if the nail lacquers are too fast drying, it ends up being gloopy and thick on my nails! Yikes!

Nevertheless, I still really like these nail polishes and it definitely won't stop me from purchasing more shades! Fingers crossed that the other 33 shades will contain some frost, metallic or shimmer finishes!

Have you tried L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Lacquers?
I know Samantha is hosting a giveaway for these nail lacquers, so you may want to check that out!

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis retails for $6.95 at Priceline and other L'Oreal stockists.
